The best lesson I ever learned... I learned from the pair of children involved in one of my pretends.

They'd lost their father in the mystery I was solving and their mother had not been in their lives for years. I thought they were going to be without family.

I was wrong.

The woman that had been involved with their father – I saw her with them, saw how much she loved them both.

That's when I realized that it doesn't always take blood to be family. Another time I learned that blood doesn't always make family.

It takes love.

Father's Day is a strange concept, but... that was a good one.

No, it doesn't always take blood, Jarod.

Heh. Good lesson, that. If it took blood to make a family, I'd have been alone all my life. Thankfully, that doesn't seem to be the case. *smiles* Good luck find a family of your own, Jarod, too. If you haven't already.

Fathers....I had a very bad one this life, at least by male who technically headed up my family. But my father-figure, the man I look to for guidance and teaching? He's great.

If you don't mind attending the school of hard knocks when you flub something up.

The people I think of as my family... well, NONE of them are blood related to me at this point. People find their own family, really. Blood relations just give you a reason to meet some people that you would otherwise never associate with.
